Woman to Woman

[English] [français]

They took power at the Philharmonie de Paris in March, the « jazzwomen » of Woman To Woman supergroup will be back on stage in summer 2017.

Hailing from the USA, Canada, France, Chile, Israel and Japan, this international all-star ensemble is comprised of seven of the finest performers on the jazz scene today. Forget about gender : this is a serious band with an eclectic repertoire that performs with high-wire interplay, delicacy and power. The virtuosic rhythm section of pianist Renee Rosnes, bassist Noriko Ueda, drummer Allison Miller, the powerful front line of trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, clarinetist Anat Cohen, tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana and the brilliant young vocalist, Cécile McLorin Salvant combine to create an unforgettable musical experience.

This cosmopolitan and transgenerational all stars septet revisits a handful of jazz standards by exploiting its musician’s wide range of influences.

« Claiming for equality in jazz , as in other areas, is nothing radical. In reality that’s the least that we can expect ! » affirmed Cécile McLorin Salvant, talking about this decidedly-feminist project which, as we remember, was originally presented at the Philharmonie, in connection with Day for Women’s Rights.
